These terms govern your use of Kantoku. We have written them in plain English so you know what you are agreeing to. By using Kantoku, you agree to these terms.

The service

Kantoku is operated by Marshall Matters Ventures Pte. Ltd. (UEN 202603347K), 60 Paya Lebar Road, #06-28 Paya Lebar Square, Singapore 409051. Contact: hello@kantoku.coach.

Kantoku provides AI-assisted writing coaching through interrogative prompting. The AI asks questions designed to help you think more clearly and write better. It does not generate, suggest, or insert text into your documents.

Your content

You own everything you write in Kantoku. We claim no intellectual property rights over your documents, notes, or any content you create. You grant us a limited, revocable licence to process your text solely for the purpose of providing the coaching feature. This licence terminates when you delete your content or your account.

Acceptable use

When using Kantoku, you agree not to:

  • Use the service for any illegal purpose
  • Attempt to make the AI generate text or bypass its interrogative constraints
  • Share your account credentials with others
  • Use automated tools, bots, or scripts to access the service without prior written permission
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or otherwise extract the source code of the service
  • Interfere with or disrupt the service or its infrastructure

AI limitations

The AI coaching is provided as-is. Questions generated by the AI may not always be relevant, accurate, or appropriate for your specific context. Kantoku is not a substitute for professional academic supervision, peer review, editorial services, or legal advice.

Payments and billing

  • Pro plan: billed monthly or annually via Stripe. Prices are in USD.
  • Cancellation: you may cancel at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You retain access to Pro features until then.
  • Annual plans: a pro-rata refund is available within 30 days of purchase. After 30 days, no refund is provided, but you retain access for the remainder of the annual term.
  • Institute and Enterprise plans: billed as agreed in individual contracts.
  • Price changes: we will provide at least 30 days notice of any price increases. Existing annual subscriptions are honoured at the original price for the remainder of their term.

Academic integrity

Kantoku is designed to support academic integrity by ensuring that AI assists your thinking rather than generating your text. However, you are solely responsible for complying with your institution's policies on AI tool use. We recommend disclosing the use of Kantoku where your institution requires disclosure of AI-assisted tools.

Availability

We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service for Free and Pro plans. We perform maintenance with advance notice where possible. Institute and Enterprise plans include service level agreements as specified in individual contracts.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claims arising from your use of Kantoku is limited to the fees you have paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

We are not liable for academic outcomes, grades, publishing decisions, or any consequences arising from the use or inability to use Kantoku's coaching features.

Termination

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with notice where practicable. You may delete your account at any time through the application settings or by contacting us. Upon termination, we will delete your data within 30 days.

Changes to these terms

We will provide at least 30 days notice for material changes to these terms via email to registered users. Continued use of Kantoku after the notice period constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Singapore. Any disputes arising from or in connection with these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Singapore.

Severability

If any provision of these terms is found by a court to be unenforceable or invalid, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.

Entire agreement

These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Marshall Matters Ventures Pte. Ltd. regarding your use of Kantoku.
